Priyamani is forced to go back to work as her husband (Sampath Raj) is taken into custody after getting caught in a sex scandal, in the trailer for Good Wife. The upcoming JioHotstar original series, comes from actor-director Revathy.
The trailer shows Priyamani trying to get back on her feet after her world is turned upside down when her husband’s sex scandal comes to light. She struggles to balance her new career as a lawyer while also dealing with the trauma faced by her children, as she encounters humiliation from her husband's scandal.
Good Wife also stars Aari Arjunan, Amrutha Srinivasan, Mekha Rajan, and Adithya Shivpink, among others. The series is an official Tamil remake of the American legal-political drama The Good Wife (2009-2016). The series will mark Revathy's foray into the web series format. Siddharth Ramaswamy is the co-director and cinematographer of the series.
The original The Good Wife was also remade in Hindi as The Trial: Pyaar Kaanoon Dhokha, with Kajol playing the lead role. The original series, created by Robert and Michelle King, starred Julianna Margulies as Alicia Florrick whose husband Peter (Chris Noth), the former Cook County, Illinois State's Attorney, has been jailed following a notorious political corruption and sex scandal.
Good Wife is all set to premiere on JioHotstar on July 4.
Revathy made her directorial debut with Mitr, My Friend in 2002. She last helmed Salaam Venky in 2022. On the acting front, she was last seen in The Diplomat in Hindi and Pravinkoodu Shappu in Malayalam. She is reportedly also a part of Vijay’s Jana Nayagan.
Also a part of Jana Nayagan is Priyamani, who was last seen in the Malayalam film, Officer on Duty. She will also be seen alongside R Madhavan in G.D.N., the upcoming GD Naidu biopic.
