
With just over a week to go for the release of Vijay Antony's latest film Maargan, the makers have announced that the murder mystery-crime thriller has cleared censorship formalities with a U/A certificate from CBFC. Directed by editor Leo John Paul in his directorial debut, the film is scheduled to release in theatres on June 27.
The recently-released trailer, established that Vijay Antony plays a cop named Dhruv who is investigating the case of a serial killer Tamilarivu, played by Ajay Dishan who uses a substance that blackens people before they die. Dhruv is also infected with the unknown serum. What is the nature of these crimes, and what bottlenecks arise in the investigation will only be known when the film is released.
Leo John Paul is known for his work in the first two Pizza films, Attakathi, Soodhu Kavvum, Mundasupatti, Thegidi, and Indru Nettru Naalai. He won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Editor for Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara, starring Vijay Sethupathi. Leo himself serves as the editor for the film and Vijay Antony is its music composer.
Maargan, which was previously titled Gagana Maargan's also includes Samuthirakani, Mahanathi Shankar, Prithika, Brigida Saga, Vinodh Sagar, Deepshikha, Archana, Kanimozhi, and Anthagaram Natarajan.
The rest of the technical crew comprises cinematographer Yuva S and art director Raja A. Apart from Tamil, the film is also expected to be screened in Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and Telugu. Maargan is produced by Vijay Antony Film Corporation.
