Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj is currently undergoing intensive training in martial arts for his upcoming film with Captain Miller filmmaker Arun Matheswaran, IANS reports. As reported earlier, Lokesh is set to debut as a lead actor in Arun's action entertainer.
Reports indicate that Lokesh will wrap Arun's film before starting production on his next directorial venture, Kaithi 2, starring Karthi. Following Kaithi 2, Lokesh is set to collaborate with Aamir Khan on a superhero film.
Lokesh is undertaking his training in martial arts in Thailand, according to reports, which also confirm that the director is simultaneously managing post production for Coolie, featuring Rajinikanth.
Coolie is among the year's most highly anticipated releases, boasting cameos from several top stars across industries, including actors Aamir Khan, Upendra, and Nagarjuna.
The film, slated for a worldwide theatrical release on August 14, reunites Sathyaraj and Rajinikanth on screen after nearly 38 years. They last appeared together in the 1986 film Mr Bharath, where Sathyaraj portrayed Rajinikanth's father.
Coolie, Rajinikanth’s 171st film, centres on gold smuggling. Director Lokesh has clarified that it will remain a standalone film, separate from his Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU).
Beyond Rajinikanth, the film features Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, Junior MGR, and Reba Monica John in pivotal roles. Anirudh composes the music Girish Gangadharan handles the cinematography, and Philomin Raj edits the film. Kalanithi Maran’s Sun Pictures produces it.
