
Dhanush is all praise for India's World Champion chess star D Gukesh, following his impressive victory over former world number one Magnus Carlsen in round six of Norway Chess.
On Monday, the actor and director took to his official X handle to congratulate and commend the budding prodigy. He wrote, “Many congratulations to D Gukesh on beating world no. 1 and making the whole nation proud. Your composure after your victory is very commendable and an inspiration to everyone.” (sic)
In Round 6 of the ongoing Norway Chess 2025 competition, Gukesh overcame a losing position on Sunday to pull off a surprising triumph over the former world number one. Gukesh defeated the Norwegian grandmaster in a classical match for the first time ever. After Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa, the 19-year-old became the second Indian player in the history of the championship to defeat Carlsen.
On the work front, Dhanush is awaiting the release of Shekhar Kammula’s Kuberaa, which is slated for June 20. Dhanush also has his fourth directorial, Idly Kadai; Aannand L Rai’s Tere Ishk Mein; D55 with Rajkumar Periyasamy; D56 with Mari Selvaraj; the Ilaiyaraaja biopic with Arun Matheswaran; a film with Vetrimaaran; and Kalam: The Missile Man of India in the pipeline.
