After a glorious response to Tourist Family, Sasikumar will once again don the role of a Sri Lankan in the upcoming film Freedom, directed by Sathyasiva, who is known for helming the Kazhugu films, Savaale Samaali and 1945.
The teaser, which was released on Monday, sheds light on the plight of prisoners and Sri Lankan refugees. Sasikumar wants to desperately get out of the system that puts people behind bars without concrete evidence. Lijomol Jose plays his wife while Bose Venkat and Malavika Avinash also star in prominent roles in the film.
Sharing details on the storyline, director Sathyasiva previously said to CE, "This is a film based on a prisonbreak, which is a true story that happened in Tamil Nadu during 1991-95. Sasikumar and Lijomol will play Sri Lankan refugees in the film who have a reason to fight for their freedom. It will showcase the emotions of those who are wrongly convicted of crime and are serving their prison sentences."
On the technical team, Freedom has music by Ghibran, cinematography by NS Uthaya Kumar, and editing by Srikanth NB.
It is co-produced by Sujatha Pandian and Pandian Parasuraman. The film will be released on July 10 in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.
