Teju Ashwini, who made her acting debut with Enna Solla Pogirai in 2022, is all set to be seen in her sophomore outing, Blackmail, on Friday. She will be seen starring alongside GV Prakash in the Mu Maran directorial. The actor and social media influencer previously collaborated with GV Prakash for an independent single titled ‘Patak Patak’ three years ago. In an exclusive conversation with CE, Teju talks about her experience working with the music composer and actor.
First, she goes back three years and recalls her time working with GV Prakash on the song. “For someone like me who has always wanted to work with GV Prakash sir because of the love for his songs, ‘Patak Patak’ came as a beautiful opportunity for a collaboration. While the song went viral, I had no time to interact with him on set because we had to wrap up the shoot for the song.”
Teju’s wish to know more about GV Prakash came true on the sets of Blackmail. “On the sets of Blackmail, I had a lot of time to interact with him. When Srikanth and Bindu shot their scenes, we would sit and chat and catch up. GV Sir and I would indulge in very spiritual conversations about the various temples we have visited. GV Prakash is a very religious person. He emits a very divine and positive energy,” she reveals.
While there has been a three-year gap between her first and second films, Teju is now doing two Telugu films and awaiting the release of another Tamil film. On how she wants to take up roles going forward, she shares, “I am going to take up roles as they come. But if I have one dream role right now, it would be to do an action film. As a preference, I would choose to play lead characters going forward. However, I am open to playing an important supporting character in a film.”
Blackmail marks Mu Maran’s third directorial after Iravukku Aayiram Kangal and Kannai Nambathey. Srikanth, Bindhu Madhavi, Linga, Thilak Ramesh, and Muthukumar also star in pivotal roles in the film. Gokul Benoy handles the cinematography for the film, with music by Sam CS and editing by San Lokesh. The film’s stunt sequences are choreographed by Rajasekhar, and costume design is by Thilakapriya Shanmugham and Vinod Sundar.
