Earlier, we reported about filmmaker Pa Ranjith being booked alongside three others in relation to the accidental death of stunt performer Mohan Raj during the production of his upcoming film, Vettuvam. An SUV with Mohan inside flipped on the film set in Nagapattinam District and contributed to the stuntman's death. The latest in the case is that the Keezhvelur District Munsif-cum-Judicial Magistrate Court has granted bail to Ranjith.

Keezhaiyur law enforcement filed a case against Ranjith and others under IPC sections associated with negligence-induced death. The others have already been given bail. Ranjith presented himself in front of the Judicial Magistrate earlier this Wednesday and received his bail.

At the time of the incident, Ranjith's Neelam Productions banner shared a condolence note, which claimed that the makers depended on stunt choreographer Dhilip Subbarayan's expertise during production and acted as per all the safety protocols. The note also noted that the day began with "with detailed planning, caution, clarity in execution". Reportedly, Mohan made himself available as a stand-in stunt director in the temporary absence of Dhilip Subbarayan for the sequence in Vettuvam.

Reportedly, production on the film, starring Arya and Dinesh in important roles, resumed in the recent past. According to reports, Ranjith has offered financial help to the late stuntman's family.
