Forty-four years after K Bhagyaraj's Andha 7 Naatkal, newcomers Ajitej and Shriswetha are reviving the film's title for a new age romantic thriller helmed by M Sundar. The film is backed by Murali Kabirdass of Bestcast Studios. On Friday, the first single from the film, composed by Sachin Sundar, was unveiled.
Speaking about choosing to use the title, Andha 7 Naatkal, after 44 years, the producer said, as per a press note, "After the script narration, both director Sundar and I felt that this title would be a fitting tribute to the legendary K Bhagyaraj, with whom Sundar was associated. The title felt naturally aligned with the story, and with respect and gratitude, we approached Bhagyaraj sir. He graciously and immediately gave us permission to use the title, and we are honoured by his gesture.”
Shedding light on the film, he further said, "When I made the decision to produce films, my goal was to create something truly fresh, something the audience has never seen before. There are so many untapped areas in storytelling, waiting to be explored by young and undiscovered talents in Tamil cinema. At BESTCAST Studios, we strive to bring such vibrant minds to the forefront. I firmly believe that collaborations such as these are essential, instead of adhering to monotonous formulae."
He continues, "In the process of finding unique stories, I came across a script by director M. Sundar, but with an intriguing twist, a celestial element. I can’t reveal more, as it would spoil the experience, but once the narration ended, I couldn’t hold back and decided to go ahead. Everything fell into place perfectly—from the casting to the execution. Ajitej and Shriswetha, along with the rest of the cast, have delivered powerful performances that have taken the film to another level.”
Apart from Ajitej and Shriswetha, the film also stars Bhagyaraj, Namo Narayanan, Subashini Kannan, Thalaivasal Vijay, Bharathiraja, and more. With the shoot wrapped in 45 days, the film has been shot extensively across Chennai and Kodaikanal. The film's technical crew includes cinematographer Gopinath Durai, composer Sachin Sundar, and editor Muthamilan Ramu.
