The production banner of the Rajinikanth-Lokesh Kanagaraj film Coolie, namely Sun Pictures, announced a while ago that it would release the third song from the film, 'Powerhouse', at 9:30 pm on July 22, Tuesday. It will come with a launch event at Quake Arena in Hyderabad. The banner also revealed today that Pen Movies has bagged the rights to distribute the film in Hindi. Interestingly, the producer has changed the original title to Coolie: The Powerhouse for the Hindi audience. Initially, it changed the name to Majdoor for Hindi, but fans criticised the move as they found it an uninteresting title for a film starring Rajinikanth. Apparently, the title has been changed for the said population because there is already a Hindi film named Coolie, starring Amitabh Bachchan.
The third song from Coolie comes shortly after the launch of the massively popular single 'Monica' featuring Pooja Hegde. The song has lyrics by Arivu as well as vocals by composer Anirudh himself and the former. The entire Coolie album is available on popular music streaming platforms, so 'Powerhouse' already has an established fanbase.
Coolie marks director Lokesh and actor Rajinikanth's maiden collaboration. The film also stars Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Nagarjuna, Upendra, and Soubin Shahir in key roles. It also has a cameo by Aamir Khan, in addition to Reba Monica John in a supporting role. According to reports, Monisha Blessy, Junior MGR, and Kaali Venkat are also part of the film's cast.
On the technical front, Coolie has editor Philomin Raj, cinematographer Girish Gangadharan, and action choreographers Anbariv. The film is slated for an August 14 release in theatres worldwide. Interestingly, its release coincides with Rajinikanth's 50th anniversary; the actor made his debut with Apoorva Raagangal, which hit theatres on August 15, 1975.
