The Tamil Nadu state assembly election is scheduled for the first half of 2026, and actor-politician Vijay will take a complete political plunge with his outfit Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

During the recent party executive committee meeting, Vijay was announced as the Chief Minister candidate for TVK, and it was declared that the party will form alliances with groups that accept his leadership.

With the battle lines drawn and Tamil Nadu is set for a three-pronged election, and Vijay is already being proclaimed as the next chief minister. No not by the rank and file of his party. Director M Gopi's Yaadhum Ariyaan trailer, which was released today, has a particular shot with a masthead from a newspaper in the future (November 2026) that reads "Chief Minister Vijay makes important announcements for youngsters and farmers."

The trailer glimpse revolves around a resort and the mysterious deaths that happen there. The film also incorporates a sci-fi element of shifting between the past and the future. Aside from that, there are no giveaways on the plot details.

The film stars Appu Kutty, Thambi Ramaiah, Dinesh, Brana, Anand Pandi, Shyamal, Anandraj, Rajakumari, Sheikh, Thidiyan, Marikani, Murugan, Sivakumar and Kasilingam.

Music composer Dharma Prakash, editor Niranjan Antony, cinematographer LD, and art director Nellai Lenin make up the technical team of the film.

The film is scheduled for a July release, but the official date has not been announced yet.
