Actor Kalaiyarasan has publicly urged producer CV Kumar to release the long-delayed romantic comedy Titanic, which has remained unreleased despite being completed years ago.
The film, directed by debutant Janakiraman, was launched in 2016 with Kalaiyarasan and Anandhi in the lead. The director previously assisted Sudha Kongara on Irudhi Suttru. It also stars Ashna Zaveri and Kaali Venkat. Though the trailer and first-look posters were released, the film itself has yet to see the light of day.
Taking to his official X handle (formerly Twitter), Kalaiyarasan addressed the delay directly by saying, “Why aren’t you releasing the Titanic film, CV Kumar sir? Director Janakiraman and the actors and technicians of the movie deserve a good release after all the hard work.... It’s a very good movie, sir... trust us, it will be a hit for all of us. Release it immediately, sir... plssss.” (sic)
The post has sparked fresh attention online, with fans expressing support for the actor and curiosity about the unreleased film. CV Kumar is yet to respond to Kalaiyarasan's request.
Titanic was earlier slated to hit theatres on May 6, 2022, but was later delayed. The film has cinematography by Ballu, music by Nivas Prasanna, and editing by Radhakrishnan Dhanapal and Ignatious Aswin. As per previous reports, the film is an all-out comedy.
On the work front, Kalaiyasaran was last seen in Madraskaaran, which marked the Tamil debut of Shane Nigam. Apart from Titanic, Kalaiyarasan has another long-delayed film, titled Mugam, which is yet to hit theatres. The film is helmed by debutant Sriram. He also has Athiyan Athirai's Thandakaaranyam in the pipeline, in which he stars alongside Dinesh. Other films in his kitty include Trending and Kolai Seval. CV Kumar last produced Soodhu Kavvum 2 under his Thirukumaran Entertainments banner. A number of his directorials, including MaayaOne and Kottravai, are yet to receive a release date.
