Filmmaker Atlee, who is gearing up for his magnum opus with Allu Arjun and Deepika Padukone, has praised director Ram's recent entertainer Paranthu Po.
In a video message, the commercial hitmaker said Paranthu Po is a special and memorable film for him after he watched it in a special screening two months ago. The filmmaker particularly loved the portions involving actors Shiva and Anjali. He added that the problem that occurs in the film feels like something had happened to his neighbour, because of the mature performance of Grace Antony. Praising Mitul, Atlee said that the Anbu character is the soul of the film and has performed well. Atlee further stated that he looks up to Ram and his works inspire him and said the film will be a memorable experience for the audience, just like it was for him.
Paranthu Po, released on July 4, generally opened to positive reviews for the light-hearted treatment of the plot and the impressive performances. An excerpt from CE's review of the film reads, "One of the biggest challenges while watching Paranthu Po was the willing submission to the style of the film. Thanks to composer Santhosh Dhayanidhi’s wonderful album, Madhan Karky’s sing-along lyrics, and Ram’s decision to treat the film as a musical, Paranthu Po is a rather unique watch. Would this film have been the same without these songs? Probably. But do these songs work in favour of the film? That answer would decide your experience, and honestly, the earnestness of it all completely bowled yours truly over."
Ram, V Gunasekaran, V Karupuchaamy, and V Shankar are the producers of the film. JioHotstar, GKS Bros Production, and Seven Seas Seven Hills Productions backed the film.
