Debut director Abishan Jeevinth's Tourist Family, starring Sasikumar and Simran in the lead, has officially wrapped filming.
The makers made an announcement with a picture of the cast and crew on Thursday.
Though the film's plot is about a Tamil family fleeing Sri Lanka due to the island nation's post-Covid economic crisis, the director said in an earlier interview to CE that he has kept the film as apolitical as possible. "We researched this issue only to the extent of its utility to our script. As I said before, I wanted Tourist Family to be as apolitical as possible. So we had a limit on how much to employ the Sri Lankan economic crisis in the film. It is a feel-good film with a strong emotional core," he said.
Simran was last seen in the Prashanth starrer Andhagan, which is an official remake of Ayushmann Khurana's Andha Dhun. She also has Sabdham and The Last One in her pipeline. Meanwhile, Sasikumar previously starred in Era Saravanan's Nandhan, and he has Evidence and Freedom up next.
Tourist Family is produced by Pasilian Nazerath, Magesh Raj Pasilian, and Yuvaraj Ganesan under the Million Dollar Studios and MRP Entertainment banners. Apart from the male and female leads, the film also stars Yogi Babu, Mithun Jai Sankar, Kamalesh, MS Bhaskar, Ramesh Thilak, Bucks, Elango Kumaravel and Sreeja Ravi.
The film's technical crew comprises music composer Sean Roldan, cinematographer Aravind Viswanathan, editor Barath Vikraman, art director Raj Kamal, and lyricist Mohan Rajan.
Without giving a specific release window, the makers announced the film will be released in theatres in 2025.
