The makers of the upcoming film Kaadhal Enbadhu Podhu Udamai, written and directed by Jayaprakash Radhakrishnan, dropped the first single, 'Theeyai'.
The melody explores the romantic emotions and feelings Lijomol's character has for her female friend. 'Theeyai', composed by Kannan Narayanan, is sung by Uthara Unnikrishnan and written by Uma Devi.
The recently released trailer depicted Lijomol as a lesbian who is in love with another woman, played by Anusha. However, her separated parents, Vineeth and Rohini, find it difficult to accept her sexual orientation.
Also starring Kalesh and Deepa, Kaadhal Enbadhu Podhu Udamai is a film that talks about the most important psychological problem in love. The film was an official selection for the Indian Panorama of the 54th International Film Festival, 2023.
Jayaprakash Radhakrishnan previously helmed Thalaikoothal. In an earlier conversation with CE about the film, the director said, “Kaadhal Enbadhu Podhu Udamai will be a social drama. Initially, the film was titled Butterfly, symbolising coming out of the cocoon, and they announce they are not straight. The film will be about how society will perceive such individuals and talk about inclusivity and the LGBTQ community. “Love cannot be judged by anyone or any belief system. Love is above all.”
Kaadhal Enbadhu Podhu Udamai's technical crew comprises DOP Sree Saravanan, editor Dani Charles, and music composer Kannan Narayanan. Presented by director Jeo Baby, the film is produced by Jomon Jacob, Nithiyah Atputharajah, Dijo Augustine, Vishnu Rajan, and Sajin S Raj under the Mankind Cinemas, Symmetry Cinemas, and Nith's Productions banners. The film is being distributed by G Dhananjayan on behalf of Creative Entertainer & Distributor.
