Kishore is a doting father to two kids in director G Dhirav's Mellisai. The first trailer for the film, which was released by the makers on Christmas, shows him looking out for his children -- a young school-going girl and a college-going teenager. While he seems content with his life, glimpses of what his life could have been flash in front of him. Kishore is a talented singer who wants to audition and showcase his talent, but his family seems against it. Parallely, their house is also in the risk from being taken over by a loan shark.
The makers previously revealed that the film will take place in two parallel timelines centred around the bond between a father and daughter, promising "a deeply emotional and poetic" experience. The film is also expected to revolve around the themes of love, ambition, failure, and success.
With Subatra Robert, known for her roles in Pariyerum Perumal, Jai Bhim, and Bommai Nayagi, as the female lead, Mellisai's ensemble cast includes George Mariyan, Harish Uthaman, Jaswant Manikandan, Dhananya, Proactive Prabakar, Kannan Bharati, and others.
Dhirav made his directorial debut in Veppam Kulir Mazhai (2024), and late last year, his sophomore Dopamine @2.22 was released.
On the technical team, Mellisai has Shankar Rangarajan composing the music and Devaraj Pugazhendi handling cinematography. Dhirav, like in his previous films, will also be penning the lyrics in the movie. He is also producing the film under the Hashtag FDFS banner.
A release date for Mellisai is yet to be announced.
