Filmmaker Lingusamy has strongly denied reports suggesting that an arrest warrant has been issued against him following the verdict in a cheque dishonour case filed by Paceman Finance.
The issue pertains to Paceman Finance's case filed against Lingusamy and his production company Thirupathi Brothers under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act in a cheque dishonour case. In a statement, the Sandakozhi director said a Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Thursday delivered its judgment in the matter and granted him a period of 30 days to file an appeal.
Claiming that it is a "false case", Lingusamy said, "We will be filing an appeal in accordance with law and will legally challenge this false case filed against me and my company."
Urging responsible reporting, Lingusamy requested members of the media and press fraternity not to circulate unverified information. He reiterated that the rumours regarding his arrest are baseless and that no arrest warrant has been issued in the case.
On the work front, his 2014 film Anjaan, starring Suriya, Samantha and Vidyut Jammwal in the lead, was re-released in theatres recently. The film also featured Manoj Bajpayee, Dalip Tahil, Murali Sharma, Joe Malloori, Soori, Chetan Hansraj, Sanjana Singh and Asif Basra in supporting roles.
