Earlier, we reported that speculation was rife about Andrea Jeremiah reprising her role as Chandra from Vada Chennai in Vetri Maaran's Arasan. The actor even hinted at her comeback during one of her recent interviews promoting Mask. A while ago, Andrea seemingly confirmed that she is coming back in the role for the film. The actor shared a photograph featuring her clad in a saree, which also appears to be her character's look, and captioned the post 'Chandra'. For the uninitiated, Chandra is Rajan's (Ameer) widow who marries Guna (Samuthirakani), who is part of Rajan's gang in Vada Chennai. If the reports about her comeback are true, Arasan reunites Andrea with Vetri Maaran for the first time after the 2018 film.
Andrea is expected to join the film's lead actors Silambarasan TR and Vijay Sethupathi in the near future. Arasan's screenplay is an iteration of the Vada Chennai script that Vetri Maaran wrote for Silambarasan when the actor was in talks to star in it. However, the project underwent multiple changes, with Dhanush eventually going to star as Anbu in the 2018 film.
Production on the film is underway. Kalaipuli S Thanu is producing it through his label V Creations. There are also rumours about Vada Chennai stars Samuthirakani and Kishore are coming back for the film, with newcomers Kavin and Manikandan's names thrown into the mix. That said, the film's producer is yet to officially announce the rest of the cast.
