Actor Sarath Kumar, who is awaiting the release of Kombuseevi, directed by Ponram, recently remembered yesteryear iconic actor Silk Smitha and her impact on Indian cinema. In an exclusive interview with Cinema Express, Sarath Kumar described her as a "dream girl" who was also a "talented performer" beyond her glamorous roles in films.

Sarath Kumar recalled her repertoire of work while answering why the team of Kombuseevi decided to place a tribute for the actor in their upcoming film via the recently-released song 'Vasthara'. "More than just being the 'dream girl', she was beautiful regardless of the dress that she wears. Her presence was enjoyed by us on screens. She was also a talented performer. She was never the actor who would just come on screen wearing a dress that she wants and dances to her liking. You can see her acting skill in one particular film where she would enthrall audiences by speaking in Telugu and Tamil simulaneously. She was a star in her own right."

He further added, "Despite being a photo in the film, we have immortalised her on screen, and we all felt that she was truly there in person. I'm sure fans would be very happy to see her here."

Echoing his thoughts, director Ponram shared, "She has the ability to entertain audiences without acting. Her photo alone can speak words. You can see the power of her eyes there. That alone is enough to entertain audiences. We truly miss her, wondering how it would be if she was here with us today. Hence we made a big hand-drawn picture of her and kept it as the backdrop for the song." Composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, 'Vasthara' has lyrics by Super Subbu and is rendered by Vishnu Priya along with the composer.

In Kombuseevi, Sarath Kumar stars alongside Shanmuga Pandiyan. The director is known for his collaborations with Sivakarthikeyan on films like Varuthapadadha Valibar Sangam (2013), Rajinimurugan (2016), and Seemaraja (2018). The cast of the film also includes Tharnika, Anaira Gupta, George Maryan, and Sujith Shankar. It hits theatres on December 19.
