JioHotstar promises higher stakes in Priyanani starrer Good Wife season 2
Earlier, we reported about Priyamani reprising her role from Good Wife, the Tamil adaptation of the eponymous American series, for a second season of the show. The streamer announced Good Wife season 2 through a recent event, called JioHotstar South Unbound, where it unveiled its upcoming film and series slate. At the event, Kamal Haasan stated that the bridge between regional and national cinema is narrowing and that the former is becoming the new national. Priyamani also echoed the sentiment as she talked about her upcoming show. She said, “I’ve been fortunate to work across South Indian cinema and experience the richness of our stories. We celebrate narratives that stay true to their roots while connecting with audiences everywhere. This exchange is powerful; regional stories are now gaining national recognition, and national stories are being adapted for regional audiences. Today, digital platforms are bridging these worlds, opening up endless opportunities for creators and viewers alike.”
The first season follows Priyamani's character who comes back to her career as a lawyer as her spouse gets entangled in a sex scandal. According to the streamer, Good Wife season 1 is among its “standout” Tamil Original series. The streamer has promised higher stakes in the second season, exploring themes of self-discovery, determination, and justice. It says that the upcoming season of the series will delve deeper into the complex courtroom milieu, as well as exploring “the personal dilemmas” forcing the main character to reevaluate both her identity and her relationships.
Aari Arjunan and Sampath are also part of the series’ cast. It is one of the many Tamil Originals announced at the recent JioHotstar South Unbound event.
