After multiple delays, Anupama Parameswaran's Lockdown was pushed to December 12 from its December 5 release date. However, Lyca Productions, the makers of the film, have now announced that the film is being delayed yet again. The film is helmed by first-time filmmaker AR Jeeva.
In an official note, the production company wrote, "Due to unforeseen circumstances, the release of our film Lockdown has been postponed to a future date. We understand the excitement and anticipation surrounding the film, and we sincerely regret any inconvenience this change may cause for our audience, theatre partners, distributors, and the media. We are committed to ensuring that the film reaches you under the best possible conditions. We truly appreciate your patience, support, and understanding. The new release date will be announced soon."
Lockdown was first set to release in June 2024, but it later got postponed. The makers announced in November that the film would release on December 5 and later pushed it to December 12 due to Cyclone Ditwah. The trailer, which was released recently, revealed the actor battling her own demons and unprecedented circumstances during the peak of the coronavirus lockdown in the state. The film promises to deliver a gripping story of how Anupama's character finds a way out of her miseries amidst a global crisis.
The cast of the film also includes Charle, Nirosha, Priya Venkat, Livingston, Indhumathi, Rajkumar, Shamji, Lollu Sabha Maran, Vinayak Raj, Vidhu, Abhirami, Ravathi, Sanjivie, Priya Ganesh, and Asha.
The film premiered at the recent 56th International Film Festival of India, which was held in Goa. On the technical team, Lockdown has music by NR Raghunanthan and Siddharth Vipin, cinematography by KA Sakthivel, editing by VJ Sabu Joseph, and art direction by A Jayakumar. A new release date for the film is yet to be announced.
