GV Prakash Kumar has had a long career as a music composer, but an even longer career as a musician. His first venture into cinema was singing on 'Chikku Bukku Rayile' from Gentleman (1993), which was composed by AR Rahman.
In an interview with Hello FM, GV Prakash said, "His mixing techniques and his sound quality was untouched by anyone in Indian cinema. Only after he initiated this, everyone followed those techniques. When I was working with him as an assistant, I learnt how to use sound in songs, to create an extra effect."
GV Prakash continued to sing for compositions of AR Rahman in films like Uzhavan, Indira, and Bombay to name a few. His latest collaboration with Rahman was in Sarvam Thala Mayam, which was directed by Rajiv Menon, and headlined by GV Prakash himself.
AR Rahman is the uncle of GV Prakash and his sister actor Bhavani Sre. GV Prakash's mother Raihanah is AR Rahman's sister.
