The legal battle between Ilaiyaraaja and production company Mythri Movie Makers has come to an amicable end as the producers of Good Bad Ugly and Dude have made a payment of Rs 50 lakh as compensation to the composer.
The joint memo of compromise was filed before the bench led by Justice Senthil Ramamoorthy, stating that the production company has paid Rs 50 Lakh to Ilaiyaraaja through Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) for using three of his songs in Good Bad Ugly and two in Dude.
The songs were removed from the movies on OTT platforms, following HC's restraining orders on different occasions. The five Ilaiyaraaja songs would be re-included in the two movies.
Good Bad Ugly, directed by Adhik Ravichandran, also starred Trisha, Prabhu, Prasanna, Arjun Das, Priya Prakash Varrier, Yogi Babu, and Redin Kingsley, among others. The film opened to mixed reviews, claiming it did not offer anything than fan service.
Meanwhile, debut director Keerthiswaran's Dude, which was released for Diwali, opened to positive reviews for balancing entertainment and message. The film also starred Sarath Kumar, Mamitha Baiju, Hridhu Haroon, and Dravid Selvam.
