The first trailer of Gandhi Kannadi from director Sherief of Ranam- Aram Thavarel-fame was released on the occasion of Ganesh Chathurthi on Wednesday. Starring Bala, known for his stint in the hit comedy TV show Kalakka Povathu Yaaru in his debut along with noted actor-director Balaji Sakthivel, the film promises to be an emotional drama fueled by love, loss and hard lessons. Sherief, apart from directing it, has also written the story and screenplay for the film which is slated for release on September 5.
The over two-minute-long teaser starts with Bala stating that people may encounter certain individuals in their lives. Although the reasons may be unclear, it will be because of them that their entire life changes. We then see glimpses of Balaji Sakthivel's character, who is deeply in love with his wife even decades after their marriage. Bala, on the other hand, is experiencing feelings of love for the first time. The story seems to follow these two individuals as they teach each other important lessons in life.
Apart from Bala and Balaji Sakthivel, Gandhi Kannadi also stars Archana and Namita Krishnamurthy, who is also a newcomer with projects such as November Story and Kannivedi and Fall to her credit, in pivotal roles.
Gandhi Kannadi reunites Sherief with his Ranam- Aram Thavarel cinematographer Balaji K Raja. On the technical front, it also has music by Mervin Solomon and Vivek Siva.
The film is produced by Jayi Kiran under the Adhimulam Creations banner. Upon release, the film will clash with Sivakarthikeyan's Madharaasi and Varsha Bharath's Bad Girl at the box office.
