The makers of Sivakarthikeyan's next, Madharaasi, directed by AR Murugadoss, dropped the trailer glimpse of the film on Sunday.
The over two-minute glimpse first depicts Sivakarthikeyan's character as someone who romantically pursues the female lead, played by Rukmini Vasanth, free of any anxiety or external pressure. However, after a huge explosion, the male lead is affected mentally and decides to go after the issue. What the explosion was about and how the lead got into the turmoil are questions that only the film can answer.
Apart from the male lead, the antagonist, starring Vidyut Jammwal, made a mark in the glimpse. There is a line he says, "Yaar Kaila Thuppakki Irundhaalum, Villain Naan Dhaan Da," which means, "No matter who holds the gun, I am the villain." The line is both a hat-tip to the director's 2012 film Thuppakki, starring Vijay and Vidyut, and a scene in the Vijay-Venkat Prabhu film The Greatest Of All Time (GOAT), where Sivakarthikeyan, in a cameo appearance as himself, is handed the gun by Vijay's Gandhi saying now he is responsible for everything as though passing the baton.
The rest of the cast of the Madharaasi includes Biju Menon, Shabeer Kallarakkal, and Vikranth. The technical crew of the film includes Anirudh as the music composer, Sudeep Elamon as the cinematographer, and Sreekar Prasad as the editor.
The film is releasing on September 5 alongside debutant Varsha Bharath's Bad Girl.
