Filmmaker AR Murugadoss, whose next film Madharaasi, starring Sivakarthikeyan, is set for a release on September 5, is on a promotion spree for the film.
In an interview to Galatta Plus, the director said that he at first just wrote the Madharaasi protagonist role before penning the script 7-8 years ago and that was pitched to Shah Rukh Khan. "I just had the protagonist character written and I pitched it to Shah Rukh sir 7 years ago. He was really interested with the character. But after that, I had to do the follow-up process with no response from the other end. I too felt it would be futile just for him to keep approaching him," he said.
While nothing about the plotline of Madharaasi is known, Murugadoss, in an interview, said it will combine Ghajini and Thuppakki in script and action, respectively.
Produced by N Srilakshmi Prasad of Sri Lakshmi Movies, the film also stars Biju Menon, Vikranth, and Shabeer Kallarakkal in pivotal roles.
Music composer Anirudh, cinematographer Sudeep Elamon, and editor A Sreekar Prasad make up Madharaasi's technical crew.
Madharaasi will release on September 5, 2025, in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi. In Hindi, the film has been titled Dil Madharaasi.
