As Rajinikanth celebrates his golden jubilee as an actor, wishes and tributes have been pouring in from all parts of Indian cinema for the superstar. A while ago, Silambarasan TR took to social media to congratulate Rajinikanth on the milestone, which coincides with the release of the latter’s film Coolie. “Fifty years... and the arangam still roars for Thalaivar! Congratulations Rajinikanth sir on 50 legendary years in cinema. Keep inspiring and shining. Wishing you and the entire team of Coolie for a grand success,” Silambarasan wrote. He also shared a picture with Rajinikanth.
Silambarasan and Rajinikanth are yet to collaborate as actors on any film. However, Silambarasan has often referenced Rajinikanth as a major source of inspiration for him.
Rajinikanth's acting journey began with a minor antagonist role in K Balachander's 1975 film Apoorva Raagangal, opposite Kamal Haasan. Rajinikanth's next film, Coolie, marks the actor’s first collaboration with director Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film has received an ‘A’ certificate from the Censor Board, making it the first Rajinikanth starrer to have this rating since his 1989 film Siva. Even before its release, Coolie has reportedly grossed more than 100 crore in global advance bookings. The film features a star-studded ensemble cast, also including Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, and Sathyaraj. Notably, Aamir Khan also plays a cameo role in the film, alongside Pooja Hegde.
