There’s no doubt that Rajinikanth has carved a legacy for himself over the past six decades, earning admiration not just for his stardom but also for his thoughtfulness and warmth on set. Ahead of Coolie's release, actor Nagarjuna fondly recalled a touching moment with the superstar during a particularly intense schedule of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s film—an experience that stayed with him long after.
Nagarjuna, who plays a villain for the first time in his career in this film, said, "We shot an action sequence at night for 17 days in Thailand. More than 350 people worked very hard. On the last day, Rajini sir called everyone and gave each of them a packet and asked them to take something for the children when they went back home. He is such a kind-hearted person. Working with him is a wonderful experience."
Although Nagarjuna did not disclose what exactly was there in the packet, the impression that audiences got was that Rajinikanth had gifted the crew members money to enable them to buy something for their families back home in India.
Nagarjuna also underlined the simplicity of the star, noting that there is nothing special to say about his acting and style. "Even after all these years and after doing so many films, Rajini sir goes to the side and practices dialogues," he said, heaping praise on him.
Slated to release in theatres on August 14, Coolie has already triggered huge expectations. It boasts an ensemble cast featuring Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Nagarjuna, and Aamir Khan, among others. Ahead of its release, the film had been censored with an A certificate, a rare feat for a Rajinikanth film.
On the technical front, Coolie has action choreography by Anbariv, cinematography by Girish Gangadharan, editing by Philomin Raj, choreography by Sandy, and production design by Sathees Kumar.
