National Film Awards were announced for films certified by the Censor Board in 2023 earlier today. Director Ramkumar Balakrishnan's directorial debut, Parking, starring Harish Kalyan and MS Bhaskar in the lead roles, has won Best Tamil Film and Best Screenplay. The film has also earned MS Bhaskar a Best Supporting Actor win, which he shares with Vijayaraghavan (who has won for his performance in Pookkaalam).

Parking tells the story of a young tenant (Harish) who gets into a conflict with his house's owner (Bhaskar) over parking space. What stars as a conflict over territory turns into an ego battle. Parking released in theatres on December 1, 2023, became commercially successful and earned critical appreciation. In CE's review of the film, Navein Darshan wrote, "The beauty of Parking lies in not making us pick a side."

Soldiers Factory and Passion Studio produced the film, which is about two men whose egos boil over into a battle of relentless drive until they tip over into insanity. The film also has undertones of class supremacy in Parking. For example, Bhaskar's character feels he is superior to everyone else in his community just because he is a government official.

Parking also stars Indhuja Ravichandran, Prathana Nathan, Ilavarasu, Rama, and Vetrivel Raja.
