With Rajinikanth's much-anticipated Coolie set to hit theatres this August, director Lokesh Kanagaraj has announced a break from all social media platforms to concentrate on completing the film. On his X handle, he said, "I'm taking a small break from all the social media platforms until Coolie's promotions." While his announcement has shocked fans, a few had also encouraged his move. The director is known to take a hiatus from social media before the release of his films.
Coolie boasts an ensemble cast consisting of Nagarjuna as Simon, Sathyaraj as Rajasekar, Upendra as Kaleesha, Shruti Haasan as Preethi, and Soubin Shahir as Dayal. Rajinikanth plays Deva in the film. Pooja Hegde will make a cameo appearance in the film. Reports also suggest that Aamir Khan is on board the film. However, the makers are yet to confirm the same.
On the technical front, it has music by Anirudh, cinematography by Girish Gangadharan, editing by Philomin Raj, and stunts by Anbariv. The dialogues for the film are written by Lokesh alongside Chandhru Anbazhagan, who has also written the additional screenplay for the film. It is produced by Kalanithi Maran under his Sun Pictures banner and will get a worldwide theatrical release on August 14.
Lokesh Kanagaraj is also backing the upcoming film Benz headlined by Raghava Lawrence. It falls under the Lokesh Cinematic Universe and will be helmed by director Bakkiyaraj Kannan. He is also working on the much-awaited Kaithi 2, starring Karthi.
