With the dust of Good Bad Ugly celebrations yet to settle, Ajith Kumar fans have another reason to cheer.

Veeram (2014), the action entertainer that marked the first collaboration between Ajith and filmmaker Siva, is set for a grand re-release on 1 May, coinciding with the star’s birthday. The film, originally released for Pongal 2014, laid the foundation for a successful partnership that spawned three more films.

The story follows Vinayagam (Ajith Kumar), a ruffian with a heart of gold, who, along with his brothers, grows up facing life’s hardships without parental support. Bound by a vow of bachelorhood—out of fear that marriage might divide their close-knit family—the brothers secretly harbour romantic interests. Hoping to legitimise their own relationships, they wish for Vinayagam to settle down first. Fate intervenes when Vinayagam falls for Koperundhevi (Tamannaah), a woman who despises violence. To win her heart, Vinayagam attempts to lead a non-violent life, but circumstances force him to return to his old ways when Koperundhevi and her family face grave danger.

Released alongside Vijay’s Jilla, Veeram opened to positive reviews from both fans and critics and emerged as a box-office success.

Produced by B Venkatarama Reddy under the Vijaya Productions banner, Veeram features Vetri as the cinematographer, Kasi Viswanathan as the editor, and Devi Sri Prasad composing the music.
