The action-packed film Good Bad Ugly, which stormed into theatres on Thursday, April 10, garnered an impressive 28.50 crore on its opening day, according to reports. The Ajith Kumar starrer eclipsed the opening day collection of the actor's previous release, Vidaamuyarchi, in January. Notably, industry sources report that this opening day collection is the highest in Ajith Kumar's career. As per Bollywood Hungama, the record belonged to his 2022 film Valimai, which had an opening day earning of 28 crore.

Data from Sacnilk indicates a strong audience reception for Good Bad Ugly, with an overall occupancy rate of about 80 per cent upon its release. The Adhik Ravichandran directorial stars Ajith in the role of a gangster who is fresh out of prison and compelled to return to his violent past to protect his family. The film is packed with references and nods to Ajith's earlier cinematic ventures, catering directly to the fanbase of the actor. It also reunites Trisha Krishnan with Ajith after this year's Vidaamuyarchi. The cast also includes Arjun Das, Prabhu, Sunil, Prasanna, Raghu Ram, Redin Kingsley, Priya Prakash Varrier, Jackie Shroff, Yogi Babu, and Shine Tom Chacko.

The film is produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar under their Mythri Movie Makers banner. The music for Good Bad Ugly is by GV Prakash, with Abinandhan Ramanujam handling the cinematography and Vijay Velukutty serving as the editor. An excerpt from CE's review of the film reads thus: "At one point, a character solemnly declares, “AK is too loved to be allowed to leave,” and you realise that this isn't plot or storytelling. This is a commentary on the man, the myth, the demands."
