Director Ram Gopal Varma is currently awaiting the release of Saree, a psychological thriller, directed by Giri Krishna Kamal. The noted director has has written the screenplay and is presenting the film.
In a pre-release event for Saree, Ram Gopal Varma said, "The film is inspired by multiple real-life incidents rather than a single event. When we decided to make this film, I came across a reel of Aradhya, and despite my years as a professional filmmaker, something about it stood out—her strong screen presence was undeniable."
"On the other hand, Satya, a talented theatre actor, impressed me with his audition. Given my long association with director Kamal, we collectively felt that Aradhya and Satya would be the perfect choice for the lead roles. Looking back, I must say that both the director and the actors have done an outstanding job in bringing the script to life with authenticity and depth," he explained.
Speaking about her character, actor Aradhya said, "I have played a 'girl-next-door' character in the film. Saree talks about the negative and the dark sides of social media. Women can relate to the film, personally. I thank director Ram Gopal Varma for giving me a chance to play in the film."
Actor Satya Yadu recalled his background and expressed his excitement for his debut film. "I am from Uttar Pradesh. While I have acted in serials before, this is my debut on the big screen. Saree is a psychological thriller which talks about social media stalking. Not only women, even men can relate to this."
Along with Yadu and Devi, the rest of Saree's cast includes Sahil Sambhyal, Appaji Ambarish, and Kalpalatha.
On the technical team, the music for Saree has been composed by Sashi Preetham, Keerthana Sesh, DSR Balaji, Siddarth Siddu, and Rakesh Panikela, with the background score by Anand. Sabari is the director of photography, with Giri Krishna Kamal and Perampally Rajesh taking care of editing. The film is produced by Ravi Shankar Varma under RGV Aarvi Productions LLP.
Saree is slated to release in theatres on April 4.
