Actor Rajinikanth who is gearing up for his upcoming action thriller Vettaiyan by TJ Gnanavel, visited his one-time regular collaborators, director SP Muthuraman and producer AVM Saravanan.
The courtesy call saw discussions about cinematic trends of the past and present. They also said to have recalled their shooting experiences back in the 1980s.
Rajinikanth presented SP Muthuraman with a book by TN minister EV Velu about former CM and late DMK leader M Karunanidhi, 'Kalaignar Enum Thaai.' He then handed a small statue of poet-saint Thiruvalluvar to Saravanan.
Directed by TJ Gnanavel, Vettaiyan stars an ensemble cast that includes Amitabh Bachchan (in his Tamil debut) playing the role of Sathyadev, Fahadh Faasil as Patrick, Rana Daggubati as Natraj, Manju Warrier as Thara, Ritika Singh as Roopa, Kishore as Harish, Abhirami as Swetha, Dushara Vijayan as Saranya, Rohini as Nazeema and VJ Rakshan. Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth are reuniting for this film after 33 years. Their last film was Hum, which was released in 1991.
The film's audio and prevue were launched recently in Chennai. The glimpse suggests that the film will discuss extrajudicial killings by police officers.
On the technical crew, Vettaiyan has music by Anirudh. This marks Anirudh's fourth collaboration with Rajinikanth. Other members include cinematographer SR Kathir and editor Philomin Raj.
Vettaiyan is scheduled to hit theatres on October 10 in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada.
