The anticipation surrounding Rajinikanth's upcoming film Vettaiyan has been soaring high with just two weeks to go for its release. In the long list of character posters that were unveiled by the makers, it has now been revealed that Abhirami will play Swetha in the action-drama. A few behind-the-scenes shots were also compiled by the makers.

Directed by TJ Gnanavel, Vettaiyan stars an ensemble cast that includes Amitabh Bachchan (in his Tamil debut) playing the role of Sathyadev, Fahadh Faasil as Patrick, Rana Daggubati as Natraj, Manju Warrier as Thara, Ritika Singh as Roopa, Dushara Vijayan as Saranya and VJ Rakshan. Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth are reuniting for this film after 33 years. Their last film was Hum, which was released in 1991.

In the recently released glimpse, it was revealed that an inquiry commission is set up under to probe extrajudicial killings or encounters committed by police officers. The commission, led by the character played by Amitabh Bachchan, probes a police officer played by Rajinikanth, who is an encounter apologist. When Amitabh asks, does encounter make police officers look heroic, to which Rajini reasons that such killings are not just punishments but also a preventive measure to curtail the cropping up of criminals.

On the technical crew, Vettaiyan has music by Anirudh. This marks Anirudh's fourth collaboration with Rajinikanth. Other members include cinematographer SR Kathir and editor Philomin Raj.

Vettaiyan is scheduled to hit theaters on October 10 in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada.
