AGS Entertainment, the production house behind the recent Vijay-starrer The Greatest of All Time (GOAT), announced the film as the highest-grossing film of the year in Tamil cinema. As per official sources, the Venkat Prabhu directorial made Rs 288 crores in the first four days of its release, but further numbers haven't been made official.
GOAT surpassed the earnings made by earlier hits this year, such as the Dhanush-starrer Raayan, Kamal Haasan and Shankar's Indian 2, Vijay Sethupathi's 50th film Maharaja, and Pa Ranjith's Thangalaan starring Vikram. The film made Rs 126 crores worldwide on its first day of release.
Apart from Vijay, GOAT also stars Prashanth, Ajmal Ameer, Sneha, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Prabhudeva, Mohan, and Jayaram in prominent roles. Joining them are Venkat Prabhu's frequent collaborators Vaibhav, Premgi, Ajai Raj, and Aravind Akash.
GOAT has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography by Siddhartha Nuni, editing by Venkat Raajen, art direction by Rajeevan, and action choreography by Dileep Subbarayan. Kalpathi S Aghoram has produced the film under the AGS Entertainment banner, with Archana Kalpathi serving as the creative producer.
It is yet to be seen if GOAT's record can be beaten by other big films releasing this year, such as Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan and Suriya's Kanguva.
