Actor Jayam Ravi took to his social media handles to announce that he and his wife Aarti have decided to part ways. He posted a statement saying that he has "proceeded with the dissolution" of his marriage.
The news comes after months of rumours and speculations about a rift in their marriage. Earlier, Aarti had deleted pictures of herself with her husband from her social media handles.
In a long post on social media, Jayam Ravi shared that while this decision was a painful one for him and Aarti, the duo took it only after much consideration. While he did not unveil the exact reason for such a step, he mentioned that it was only based on the best interests of everyone associated with them.
He also requested everyone to respect his privacy and refrain from making any "assumptions, rumours or allegations in this regard."
"My priority has always remained the same to continue bringing joy and entertainment through my films to my dearest audience. I am still and will always be your Jayam Ravi - who is cherished by all of you throughout my career and as an actor who is dedicated to my craft and commitment to showcase the best of my talent. Your constant support means the world to me and I arn grateful for the love you have showered on me over the years," he added.
Jayam Ravi and Aarti tied the knot in 2009. They have two sons Aarav and Ayaan. Aarav starred in the film Tik Tik Tik (2018) as Jayam Ravi's on-screen son. Aarti is also the daughter of noted television producer Sujatha Vijayakumar.
On the work front, Jayam Ravi was last seen in Siren, written and directed by Antony Bhagyaraj. He is currently awaiting the release of Brother, directed by M Rajesh, which his theatres this Diwali. The actor also has Genie and Kadhalika Neramillai in various stages of production.
