The South Indian Artistes Association has urged the Tamil Film Producers' Council (TPFC) to immediately review its decision to halt shooting of new films from November 1 to prevent any disruption to the film industry and its workers.

In the meeting held on Friday between The South Indian Artistes Association and the Tamil Film Producers' Council's Executive Committee, led by Murali Ramasamy, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was discussed between the two associations.

Previously, on August 18, the meeting held between them a new MoU consisting of 11 recommendations were submitted by the Producers' Council. Following serious discussions regarding the same, The South Indian Artistes Association submitted 37 recommendations which would be suitable for both the sides. They also submitted documents which had indicated a mutual settlement with actor Dhanush to Murali Ramasamy, president of the Producers Association.

While agreeing to give recommendations by the end of September, considering the general welfare of the producers, actors and all workers in the Tamil film industry, the South Indian Actors' Association had given their recommendations within 15 days.

The statement said that The South Indian Artistes' Association is anticipating a resolution between the producers and actors soon, with a new MoU to be signed by the two parties.

Moreover, since discussions for a new understanding agreement have begun and significant progress has been made, it has been announced that new film pooja ceremonies should not be conducted at present, and no film shootings will take place from November 1st.

The South Indian Artistes Association also hoped that the announcement will be promptly reconsidered and that the Tamil Film Producers' Council will ensure that work continues smoothly without affecting any workers in the film industry.
