As actor Sivakarthikeyan's Amaran released to majorly positive reviews on Thursday, director Rajkumar Periasamy described the film as an 'ode to this son of the soil', referring to late Major Mukund Varadarajan.
He also dedicated the film to each and every soldier of the Indian Army. Saying he is humbly surrendering the film to the audiences, he thanked those who were a part of the film's journey.
The short review of CE reads, "One of my favorite aspects of the immensely likeable Amaran is its portrayal of intimacy. Whether in the deep, unspoken understanding between Mukund and Indhu—a love unshaken by distance—or the framing of battle scenes, this is a film that shows great taste for sophisticated detail. It’s a testament to the film’s quality that it manages to do this even while handling familiar beats, even while telling a story whose end you already know."
The film that stars Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi in the lead, also has Bhuvan Arora as Sepoy Vikram Singh and Rahul Bose as Mukund's Commanding Officer, Colonel Amit Singh Dabas.
The film reportedly tells the real story of the late Major Mukund, a recipient of Ashoka Chakra. Mukund received the honor for his "exemplary leadership skills, raw courage and swift action" while fighting militants in Kashmir in 2014.
