Actor Sivakarthikeyan's cameo in Vijay's recently released The Greatest of All Time (GOAT) was the talk of the town for several weeks. During the pre-climactic scene of the sci-fi action-entertainer, Vijay passed on a gun to him to hold a villain hostage. This was interpreted by the audience as the actor symbolically passing the baton for Tamil cinema to him.
The discussion has been a part of various interviews and shows, and the anchor who hosted the audio launch of Sivakarthikeyan's upcoming film Amaran too took the opportunity to enquire him about the same.
When the anchor asked whether the gun Vijay gave was special or if it was the watch he gifted, Sivakarthikeyan replied that his love was what truly mattered.
Following the release of Venkat Prabhu's GOAT and its success, Vijay presented a luxury watch to Sivakarthikeyan as a token of appreciation for his cameo in the film.
Amaran is directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy. The film tells the story of late army officer Major Mukund Varadarajan. The story is based on Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh's book India's Most Fearless.
Amaran is bankrolled by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International along with Sony Pictures International Productions. Upon release on October 31, the film will clash with Jayam Ravi's Brother and Kavin's Bloody Beggar.
Apart from Amaran, Sivakarthikeyan also has AR Murugadoss' untitled film in the works. Tentatively titled SK 23, the cast also features Rukmini Vasanth, Vikranth and Vidyut Jammwal in prominent roles.
