
Amaran, the upcoming Sivakarthikeyan film, will be Rajkumar Periasamy's second directorial after Rangoon (2017). Speaking about his experience working on the film, during its audio launch, the director mentioned that he took 5 years to work on Amaran, including his research. He mentioned that the film will be a Diwali celebration, to celebrate the real hero Major Mukund Varadarajan, on whom the film is based on.
"Everyone will think we have worked very hard to make this film. But we are all priliveged to be here. A family here lost an asset. He is the one who has worked hard." He also mentioned that he's happy that producer Thanu is attending the event, as Periasamy worked as an assistant director on Thanu's Thuppakki (2012) which was directed by AR Murugadoss and starred Vijay.
Thanking Mani Ratnam for attending the event, he said he wanted to become a director only after watching his classic Thalapathi (1991).
Periasamy also spoke about his lead in the speech. "Everyone is noticing how big Sivakarthikeyan has become. I know him from back when he was getting paid Rd 5000 for 2-3 shows. He was co-renting a small apartment with 9 guys." He appeciated that even back then, Siva and his friends used to be film buffs. He mentioned that only because he is a fan of cinema, he has these many fans.
Amaran's crew includes music composer GV Prakash Kumar, cinematographer CH Sai, editor Kalaivanan, and stunt director Stefan Richter. Amaran is bankrolled by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International along with Sony Pictures International Productions. The action war film, that also stars Sai Pallavi, Bhuvan Arora, and Rahul Bose, will hit screens on October 31.
