Following the success of Vettaiyan, a small success celebration was held where the film's crew, including director TJ Gnanavel and music composer Anirudh were present at the occasion. This is the first time the actor is making an appearance following his surgery recently. Vettaiyan, which has earned over Rs 240 crore worldwide, is on its way to beat the mark in India as well.
The police thriller boasts of an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Dushara Vijayan, Abhirami, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Rohini, and VJ Rakshan. Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan reunite after 33 years for the film, after their last outing Hum.
Vettaiyan revolves around Athiyan (Rajinikanth), a cop who is renowned for specialising in encounters. On the opposite end of the spectrum, there is Sathyadev (Amitabh Bachchan), who believes that encounters are an unjust means of dealing with crime. The film puts these two people at loggerheads and raises questions on police taking justice in their own hands. Interestingly, Gnanavel worked as a journalist before making his film debut.
On the technical team, the film has music by Anirudh, cinematography handled by SR Kathir, and editing by Philomin Raj.
