Suriya teams up with RJ Balaji for his next, AR Rahman to compose music

After wrapping up shoot for Karthik Subbaraj's film, Suriya is back on track to announce another project. Confirming earlier speculations, the actor has announced that he is joining hands with actor-director RJ Balaji for his next, tentatively titled Suriya 45.

Touted to be an action-adventure film, the project is backed by Dream Warrior Pictures that has bankrolled critically acclaimed blockbusters like Joker, Aruvi, Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, Kaithi, Sulthan, and Farhana. According to the makers, the yet-to-be-titled film will be the most expensive in the production house's line-up till date.

Suriya 45 will have music by AR Rahman. The Academy Award-winning composer has previously scored music for Suriya's hit films like Sillunu Oru Kaadhal, Aayudha Ezhuthu, and 24.

RJ Balaji, who last made Veetla Vishesham in 2022, is currently busy with the pre-production of Suriya 45. He has been working on the script for over a year and is on a recce to finalise the locations to shoot the entertainer.

RJ Balaji and Dream Warrior Pictures are planning to rope in an ensemble cast for the project which will be announced soon. Suriya 45 is slated to begin filming in November this year, with a planned release in late 2025.

Meanwhile, Suriya is awaiting the release of Kanguva, directed by Siva which is scheduled to hit theatres on November 14. He also has the Sudha Kongara-directorial Puranaanooru in the works.
