As Vettaiyan opened to mixed to positive reviews upon its release on Thursday, actor Manju Warrier, who played the female lead in the Rajinikanth starrer, shared her experience working on the film.

She thanked Rajinikanth on her social media handle for "inspiring generations." She added that she "loved being Athiyan's Thara in Vettaiyan."

Vettaiyan released on Thursday to largely positive reviews. It won praise for its content that speaks against the encounter culture prevalent in police department and for boldly designing a flawed main lead, played by Rajinikanth. The CE review of the film reads, "It’s a rare thing to see a hero, let alone a superstar, reconsider his own supposedly heroic actions and express regret, undoing any celebrations you might have launched into. So dearly did I enjoy the drama of these portions that I wished that the film had continued in this exploration of this man’s conscience, in its analysis of his repentance—instead of the conventional detour it takes to get there involving a villain who sends henchmen to kill everyone."

Apart from Rajinikanth, the TJ Gnanavel directorial also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Dushara Vijayan, Manju Warrier, Abhirami, Rana Daggubati, Ritika Singh, Rohini, Kishore, and VJ Rakshan, among others. Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan are reuniting for a film after 33 years.

The film's technical team comprises music by Anirudh Ravichander, editing by Philomin Raj, and cinematography by SR Kathir.
