The streaming giant Prime Video has bought the streaming rights for the Rajinikanth film Vettaiyan, which hit screens on Thursday. The film was reportedly purchased for a price of Rs 90 crore by the platform owned by Amazon. Interestingly, Rajinikanth's previous film, Jailer, which released last year, was also acquired by Prime Video.
Although the exact OTT streaming date is yet to be revealed, the film is expected to land sometime next month. Some other notable films of the actor that are available on the platform include Darbar, 2.0, Kaala, Sivaji, and Muthu. OTT rights form a significant source of revenue for films, apart from theatrical and TV rights.
Vettaiyan stars an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, Kishore, and VJ Rakshan. The TJ Gnanavel film has music by Anirudh, cinematography by SR Kathir and editing by Philomin Raj.
