Lyca clarifies on retaining Vettaiyan for all dubbed versions

After receiving backlash for not renaming Tamil films in Telugu while releasing in the Telugu states, the makers of Rajinikanth's next Vettaiyan issued a clarification on Wednesday.

Lyca Productions in its official release stated that they have decided to go with Vettaiyan: The Hunter for all dubbed versions of the film. The note clarified that it was earlier planned to rename the film Vettayudu, but the title was unavailable.

The note urged every section of the Telugu film industry to support the film directed by TJ Gnanavel.

Lyca Productions' clarification comes in the wake of popular Telugu writer Ravi Abburi accusing Tamil filmmakers for taking 'Telugu audience for granted' as films like Raayan, Vettaiyan, and Kanguva are releasing in Telugu States with their Tamil titles. The criticism also came from Telugu literary circles and within the industry.

Vettaiyan has an ensemble cast that includes Amitabh Bachchan (in his Tamil debut), Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, and VJ Rakshan. Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth are reuniting for this film after 33 years. Their last film was Hum, which was released in 1991.

Besides music composer Anirudh, the film's technical crew includes cinematographer SR Kathir and editor Philomin Raj.

Vettaiyan is scheduled to hit theaters on October 10 in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada.
