Actor Rajinikanth, who was admitted to Apollo Hospital, Chennai, on September 30, was reportedly discharged from the hospital on Thursday at 11 am. The actor underwent a minor elective procedure for a heart condition. 

A note issued by the hospital, on October 1 stated that the actor was admitted to the hospital situated in Greams Road on September 30 over a complaint of swelling in the main blood vessel that leaves his heart (the aorta).The swelling had been sealed by placing a stent, which in the medical jargon is called an endovascular repair.

The actor was kept under medical supervision for two days after the procedure. He has reportedly been asked to take rest now. The actor is scheduled to return to shoot for Lokesh Kanagaraj's Coolie. The film also stars Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Nagarjuna, Upendra and Soubin Shahir.

Meanwhile, on the work front, the actor is awaiting the release of his film Vettaiyan, directed by TJ Gnanavel. The film stars an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Kishore, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Abhirami, Ritika Singh, Rohini, Dushara Vijayan, and VJ Rakshan. The film hits theatres on October 10.
