With just a week to go for the release of RJ Balaji's upcoming film Sorgavaasal, the makers have released the first trailer of it. The film is directed by debutant Sidharth Vishwanath, an erstwhile assistant of filmmaker Pa Ranjith. The film is expected to take place in 1999 in Chennai.

The over two-minute-long trailer gives a glimpse into how dark the world of convicts and jails can be. The trailer opens with law enforcement officers stunned at how a particular incident of this magnitude could take place in India. Although the incident is not revealed, it seems like RJ Balaji would go to any extent to get a key out the gritty underworld where he is dragged and beaten up by other convicts who make his life a living hell.

Selvaraghavan as Siga comes across as a strongman whose every word is respected by the inmates. Karunas plays a police officer who advices Balaji to not get in the wrong books of the inmates while Balaji Sakthivel as Bashir, portrays a cook in the jail canteen. It is to be seen how the lives of these characters come together in this thrilling drama.

Apart from the above-mentioned characters, the film also stars Natty, Saniya Iyappan, Sharaf-U-Dheen, Hakkim Shah, Anthonythasan, Ravi Raghavendra, and Samuel Robinson.

Sorgavaasal is written by Thamizh Praba, Ashwin Ravichandran and director Sidharth Vishwanath. On the technical crew, the film has music by Christo Xavier, cinematography by Prince Anderson, editing by Selva RK and art direction by S Jayachandran. Sorgavaasal is backed by Think Studios and Swipe Right Studio.

The film will release along with Siddharth and Ashika Ranganath's Miss You.
