Film producer G Dhananjeyan came down on those who pan a film and spread hatred against it. Without mentioning the film's name, he gave a statement on his X handle on Thursday.

However, for anyone who follows Tamil cinema happenings regularly it isn't hard to guess that he is talking about Suriya's recently released Kanguva. Calling himself a "fanatic movie buff" who shares in social media about the film he likes, but remains silent when a film is disappointing and feels sorry for the producers as they will incur loss as he doesn't want to hurt any film with his comments.

He added that he "wishes and pray" the audience understand the difference between criticising a film constructively and spreading hatred about a film and stay in their "limits" while expressing their views.

Kanguva, which released on November 14, opened to mostly negative reviews.

Helmed by Siva, Kanguva also stars Disha Patani, Jagapathi Babu, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Kovai Sarala, Anandaraj, G Marimuthu, Ravi Raghavendra, KS Ravikumar, Ravi Raghavendra, BS Avinash, and Deepa Venkat, among others. The film marks the Tamil debut of Disha Patani and Bobby Deol.

The two-part film traverses across multiple time periods. Produced by Studio Green and UV Creations, Kanguva features cinematography by Vetri Palanisamy, editing by the late Nishadh Yusuf, and art direction by the late Milan Fernandez. Dialogues for the film have been written by Madhan Karky.
