Dhanush's team reacts to Nayanthara's allegations, issues ultimatum to remove clip
Dhanush and his legal team have now issued a response to Nayanthara's recent open letter, in which she accused the actor of deliberately hindering the release of her documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale. In her letter, Nayanthara alleged that Dhanush's team had stalled the project because a 3-second behind-the-scenes clip from the film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, which was produced by Dhanush, was used in the trailer without permission. She also criticised the actor for making an unreasonable demand of Rs 10 crore as damages.
In turn, Dhanush’s legal representatives have taken a firm stand, demanding that the actor either remove the clip from the documentary or settle the matter financially. As per a report on FPJ, a statement from Dhanush's lawyer reads, "We advise your client to remove the content infringing on our client's copyright related to Naanum Rowdy Dhaan from the documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale within 24 hours. Should your client fail to do so, we will have no option but to pursue legal action, including seeking damages of Rs 10 crore from both your client and Netflix India."
The statement further contested Nayanthara’s claims, asserting that Dhanush's team was fully aware of the film’s production details, including the behind-the-scenes footage. The legal team also challenged the actor's statement that no one had been authorised to shoot the BTS content, labelling it as baseless and insisting that she be held accountable for the same.
Naanum Rowdy Dhaan isn’t the only collaboration between Dhanush and Nayanthara. The two also co-starred in Yaaradi Nee Mohini, a romantic comedy that marked Mithran Jawahar’s directorial debut and was a remake of Selvaraghavan’s 2007 Tamil hit, Aadavari Matalaku Arthale Verule.
Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale is now available to stream on Netflix.
