Following the success of Amaran, director Rajkumar Periasamy has joined hands with actor Dhanush for his 55th film. Tentatively titled D55, the upcoming film will be produced by Anbuchezhiyan and Sushmita Anbuchezhiyan under their Gopuram Films banner.
Further details about the cast, plot and a title have been kept under wraps. Sharing the announcement, Rajkumar Perisamy said, "When good things happen, they happen in a row! Series of optimistic flow of feelings continue through...It will be D55 with one of the greatest performers of the country, A Powerhouse of talent, multifaceted Dhanush sir! Thank you Anbuchezhiyan sir and Sushmita Anbuchezhiyan ma’am of Gopuram Films for making this happen."
It has been an announcement-packed day for Dhanush. Earlier in the day, he revealed that his upcoming fourth directorial Idli Kadai will be released on April 10, 2025. He stars along with his Thiruchitrambalam co-star Nithya Menen in the film with music by GV Prakash.
Last seen in his sophomore directorial Raayan, the actor has a long list of upcoming films in different stages of production. He is currently working Sekhar Kammula’s Kubera, the Ilaiyaraaja biopic Maestro, directed by Arun Matheswaran, Aanand L Rai's Tere Ishk Mein and an untitled film with Mari Selvaraj.
Dhanush is also awaiting the release of his third film as a director. Titled Nilavukku En Mel Ennadi Kobam, the movie stars Priya Prakash Varrier, Mathew Thomas, Anikha Surendran and Rabiya Khatoon.
Meanwhile, Rajkumar Periasamy is currently basking in the success of Sivakarthikeyan's latest film, Amaran. The film is a biopic of Major Mukund Varadarajan's life. Sai Pallavi plays Mukund's wife, Indhu Rebecca Varghese. The film follows Mukund's life in the Indian Army and his relationship with Indhu.
